My passion for trees arises from the serenity and tranquillity that they render to us as individuals, as well as to the environment in which we have to sustain ourselves.
From a young age I have been interested in the various aspects of our diverse environment, and soon came to the realisation that trees play a significant role in this; considering that they :
- provide humans with food, medicines and timber
- provide animals with food and shelter
- provide bees and insects with nectar
- provide birds with nesting sites
- and the list just goes on and on.
And then there is the sheer beauty of trees, their various shapes, their summer and autumn foliage, and their sheer splendour when in full bloom.
Conserving our rich heritage of indigenous trees is paramount for me, in order that our future generations can derive the same level of enjoyment as we do.
Education and awareness programs are key elements of any such conservation efforts, something to which I subscribe fully.
